Joe Scharf, Founder
Joe has over a decade of experience in the technology industry in a multitude of entrepreneurial and engineering roles. He currently provides network architecture, network monitoring, and web application consulting through his company, Obility LLC. He is currently working on QuantiPay, a universal credit card payment gateway, and has worked with several startups, notably TechStars, Measy, and Shotbox Media.
While at TechStars, Joe was the program director for two TechStars founding classes. Joe was actively involved in selecting the founding teams, mentoring the teams, and directing investor days in Boulder and Silicon Valley. Joe continues to provide technical consulting services to TechStars as well as mentorship and direction to the founding teams.
Prior to founding Obility, Joe was directly involved with the rollout of the Bell Atlantic World School program, providing network engineering support to K-12 schools in northern West Virginia. More recently Joe has worked as a software engineer in the Telecom and Aerospace industries. Joe is responsible for the vision and primary direction on a real-time star tracker simulator project that successfully implemented embedded Linux as an alternative to a commercial real time operating system.
Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from West Virginia University, a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and an MBA, also from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Joe currently lives in Boulder, Colorado with his wife and two children. Joe occasionally writes about technology and entrepreneurship on his blog, and guest lectures on online market testing strategies and credit card payment processing.
